NO COLORING FUNNY BIRTHDAY CARD

party_sausage_001-A.JPG

Last minute birthday cards don’t have to be “generic”—they can still be funny and relatable, UKWIM? Sausage dog got a little too much party goin’ on . . . (chortle)

All the images were stamped with coordinating (meaning they “look good together”, not matchy matchy) ink hues on pretty colors of card stock—I don’t always have the time, nor the desire, to meticulously color things. I had scraps of pretty colors of card stock just sitting in my bins, so it made sense to use them up this way—saved me time, reduced waste. What more can you ask for?

Oh yeah, you do have to add a dash of humor. (wink)

I did borrow from a variety of sets* to pull this off the way I wanted, but um, soooooo very worth it! (cheeky grin) Also raided my stash of pom poms and wiggly eyes for just the right embellishment. And, helloooOOOooooOO—Glossy Accents on the wine and bottle for the win! (monkey clapping)

It’s Wednesday. Just in case you’re losing track of your days in isolation.

Stay cozy at home and stay healthy! Please.

SIMPLE INLAID DIE CUTTING

diggitydog-001-A.JPG

Hot diggity dog, it’s Friday! I know, another Clever Sausage card. And pun. But, seriously, how can you not chuckle over this one?

After I die cut a circle, I split it with a Landscapes die (the grass), and ink blended the sky and the lawn. My secret weapon for holding the the two pieces together: Scotch tape on the back. BOOM! And, then I just 3D mounted the whole shebang onto a square card.

Watercolored all the stamped images, then die cut ‘em; trimmed the hot dot bun’s foreground away so I could mount the back onto the other side of the dog, and 3D mount the bun on his front side.

The ketchup squiggle? It’s part of the coordinating die set. I wonder if folks noticed that. Watercolored a tomato red color swatch onto a scrap of watercolor paper and then die cut it out. Finishing touch after assembling the whole card was some glossy accents. Cuz ketchup is always enticingly glossy and yummy looking, right?! Heh, heh, heh!

Have a fab weekend!

Stay home. Stay healthy. Stay crafty!

(mondo squishy virtual hugs)

STRETCHING YOUR STAMPS

rainbow-dog-001.JPG

(chortle)

Oh, Rainbow Dog, I smile every time I look at you! (insert gleeful grin here)

This is an extremely simple design, without much in the way of technique—you could say, it’s a more literal interpretation of “stretching your stamps”, heh, heh, heh!

I don’t think much of an explanation is needed, but hey, if you have questions, just ask. And, if you want to duplicate this card, the orange, yellow and green strips measure 5/8 x 4 1/4”. Finished card is your standard A-2 (measuring 4 1/4 x 5 1/2”). Specific paper, ink and marker colors are listed below in the supplies.

I found it easiest to space things out by gluing the pink and blue dogs into position first, then the orange and green, with yellow being positioned last. Popped the whole thing into the MISTI so I could stamp the sentiment nice and straight in the desired spot.

If you would take a moment to leave a comment on today’s post, I’ll draw a name randomly this Friday evening, Mar 27th; I’ll email the winner and send this card out via snail mail.

Stay home, stay healthy, stay crafty. (wink)

3 CARDS USING SQUEEZE THE DAY

dropping-lime-geo-001-1.jpg

I was having a hellacious time trying to shoot these against a white backdrop (bright sunny days are an exposure nightmare for me when I need to photograph something. Of course, so are dreary rainy days, too. Whenever I have to shoot something, I hope it will be a cloudy day; no such luck since last Friday. LOL!).

After a lot of frustration, I tossed aside all the white backdrops I had on hand and grabbed this lovely, minimalist woodgrain tray I found at Nitori while I was in Japan. I love woodgrain, and when I spied these trays that came in different wood finishes and a ton of different sizes, I had to bring at least two home with me. I mean, c’mon—something utilitarian that can also do double duty as a photography backdrop? No brainer. •fist pump• And I love the contrast they provide to my typical mostly-white cards!

So. How ‘bout those limes? I love having a citrusy rainbow of color behind them and used that fun background from Wonky Backdrops—it’s so good for so many things!

I taped together two Hero Arts Infinity Circle dies to make a die cut ring to cluster my lemons, etc. into. I was having trouble clustering all the elements how I wanted them and corralling them like this led me to a pleasing arrangement. Before I mounted them, I scored a trio of lines across my card front just for a little added texture and interest—gave it just enough without going over the top or cluttering things up.

When life hands ya’ lemons, just remember . . . •chortle•

juicy-lemme-know-001-1.jpg

I cut the sentiment apart before popping it up—Hey, Mikey! I likey!

It’s hard to tell in the first photo, but I put a layer of Clear Pico Embellisher by Tsukineko/Imagine Crafts over the top of the lemons to make ‘em all juicy and what not. Hopefully, this angle shows it off much better. You could use Glossy Accents or NUVO Clear Drops, of course, if that’s what you have on hand.

All of today’s designs were stamped with Tuxedo Black Memento and colored in with Copics (specific colors I used are listed down below in the supplies).

Are you a fan of citrus? I love it. And margaritas. Shaken, not frozen. •chinkle•

Alrighty, then! That’s all I got today. Have a gooder!
