NEW EBE RELEASE DEC 2018

IG-DEC2018-AVAILNOW-1.jpg

Hey, hey! I did some of the stamps and dies in the latest Essentials by Ellen release—you can see all the new stuff here: DECEMBER 2018 RELEASE PAGE

Love LOVE LOVE all the words. YASSSSS!!!

The EH Design Ambassadors are sharing ideas and inspo and you can find links to those over on the Ellen Hutson Blog today, so be sure to pop over there so you can get your fill of eye candy! •wink•

I don’t wanna say I’m obsessed with the Hands Die set , but frankly, I am. If you watch The Story Behind The Stamps , you’ll totally get why.

If you missed the measurements for this particular tri-fold, I cut my card stock to 5.5 x 11”, and scored at 3 5/8” from each short end. The “open” end of the dies (where the arms begin), are positioned about 1/8”-1/4” from the score lines, factoring in the slight tilt.

I love that you can still see the effect of the hands from inside the card because they’re not just die cut and glued on the card front. •fist pump•

I’m still fumbling around with what to call the closure on the hug style card.

  • Interlocking? It kinda does that. And kinda not.

  • Buckle? Sorta buckles… Back in the day—we’re talking eons— I think we called this type of closure a buckle.

  • Double Buckle? Maybe… It does sorta buckle twice…

  • Tuck & Fold? Definitely tucks. Definitely folds. Twice. Hmmmmm. A Double Tuck & Fold. But, it’s not nearly as fun to say as “Double Buckle”. •sheepish shrug•

In any event, it’s a fun and easy card to make. And who couldn’t use a hug, even if it’s made from paper?

Another variation of the same tri-fold/buckle/tuck-n-fold but with just one of the hands, embellished with some snippets of black and white card stock to resemble a shirt sleeve. Sentiment is from the Hang On Stamp Set.

Inside sentiment: Totally Random Sayings, Vol. 2

Measurements: 5.5 x 11” card base, score at 3 3/4” from each short side.

I just adore words—TEXT— so so much! Makes the nerd in me quite giddy. And I’m not ashamed to say it. #wordnerdsunite

So… do you have a fondness for the same?

ELLEN HUTSON LLC 12TH ANNIVERSARY

Fave-wasabi-001-1.jpg

TWELVE YEARS!!! Wowzers! Happy Anniversary to my dear friend, Ellen! I still shake my head when I remember how she started and how she has so carefully nurtured her simple dreams to grow to where it is now. Girl’s got a lotta pluck and a heart of gold. I’m so stinkin’ proud of her, and grateful, always, that I get to work with her! YAY!!!

Ask me what my favorite Essentials by Ellen set or product is, and I honestly can’t narrow it down to just one, even among the ones I’ve personally designed. Julie refuses!

BUT, I will cay the ones that make me smile or laugh always rank really high with me, like Wasabi. Plus, I love sushi fo’h realz; I’m salivating just looking at this thing! LOL!

Fave-wasabi-001-2.jpg

Those high gloss liquidy embellishments make everything look so delish… Too bad this card is not edible. . . #sad

Do you have an EBE favorite? Or a handful of faves? Do tell! It’s fun to hear!!!

ALPINE FAUX SNOW GLOBE

Looks like a snow globe, but it s’not. •chinkle• Sorry, can’t help m’self.

I love the effect of the glitter paper behind the Alpine Snowfall Die—all the sparkle for so little effort! •fist pump• This die sold out, but is at last back in stock—YAY!!! There’s a limited supply so if you’re jonesing for it, snag one now!

Normally, I’m over designing Christmas cards at this point and ready to move on. But, this year is different. I’m bemoaning that I have so many more ideas I want to try, and there just isn’t enough time to execute them. •wee pity party•

The planets aligned for me on this one and it turned out exactly how I saw it in my head. It doesn’t always go that way, but when it does, there’s a whole lotta monkey clapping, I tell ya’. I didn’t even need to sit on my hands to prevent AMS (Add More Syndrome) . . . •chortle•

The spherical scene with the Alpine Windows Die Set is super easy to do, but also easier to SEE how it’s done, rather than explained in words—if you want to see how, check out this video HERE, starting at minute mark 2:34. I use a 3” circle die from the Hero Arts Infinity Circles set, but any 3” circle die will work, of course.

Quickly colored the house and trees with Copic markers, diecut the Alpine Snowfall into some Taffy Card stock and slapped some silver glitter paper on the back; mounted everything together, popping up the tree and house portions with foam tape and white embossing the sentiment (borrowed from Snow Days) onto a scrap of black card stock.

I really need to make another one I can frame and hang up—it’s just so cute, I can’t even . . .

Hope your Thanksgiving is warm and wonderful!

Cheers!

MONDO HOLLY ON VELLUM

Lots of us are hopping on Instagram to celebrate Ellen Hutson LLC’s 12th Anniversary!!!—you can find me HERE, if you wanna follow and see all the eye candy we’re sharing!

Some of you may or may not know the story of Ellen and I… So, I’m copying and pasting a post I wrote a couple of years ago on my old blog here, because every word I said then holds true to this day:

THE STORY OF ELLEN & JULIE

LINK:  splitcoaststampers.com

Brace y’selves; it’s about to get sappy.  But in a goodly way. :)

Ellen and I have been chums for a long time, first “meeting” on Splitcoaststampers.com where we were delighted to discover we lived in the same state, and within a few hours’ travel time! One day, Ellen invited me to her home for lunch plus an afternoon of stamping and cardmaking.  I will never forget that day–it was a blast and she endeared herself to me instantly because of her friendly, open demeanor, her warm, happy spirit and boundless enthusiasm!

When she launched Ellen Hutson LLC, I was excited for her and very much in awe and admiration–it takes a lot of courage to turn a dream into a reality.  And, yes, hard work.  LOTS of hard work.

As her company has grown and blossomed, my respect and admiration has only deepened–because I know the heart of the woman behind the company; her desire and commitment to help other individuals that work with her, alongside her, within this industry, to achieve and succeed is unparalleled.  I’m thankful for the faith she has put in me, and all her encouragement…  I thank my lucky stars daily that I get to call her colleague AND dearly loved friend.

I’m so gosh darn proud of her, I could bust!

Congratulations, Ellen and Team, for rocking the last TWELVE years and here’s to many more! ❤️

I was going for a a mod holly look. How’d I do?

My holiday card stash is just about complete, but if you’re lookin’ for more holiday inspo, I have an online workshop listed over in my shop that might interest you, called Making Merry ⬅︎

Meantime, it’s MONDAY already! How’d that happen???!!!

Cheers!

SNOW DAYS WITH STRIPES

Why is it I always have too many irons in too many fires? Launching an online holiday class almost simultaneously with a new release is nuts— I’m still trying to catch my breath . . . The above is one of several samples I made for the November release but I got completely overwhelmed . . .

Alrighty, on to the project I’ve posted today! I love using these smaller dies, like the Skinny Stripes, for DIY Stencils—makes me supremely happy!

I tested out a bunch of different tools for getting multiple ink colors stenciled within this tight pattern, with the least amount of fuss/work (y’all have no idea; I was like a woman possessed) and, after many fails, it was actually my Sponge Daubers for the win! YASSSSSS!!! •fist pump•

Glossy Accents over the diamond shapes makes them look like epoxy dots! LOVE THAT!!!

Crystal Clear Plastic for the pop-up platforms are almost invisible. Cool. Video for how to assemble the Pop-Up Mittens Die Set is HERE; just scroll down the page a bit until you see the video player.

Hope you’re having a good week!

How did it get to be Tuesday already????? Note to self: Get a clone.
